Licensed Mississauga Plumbers

Most homes in older Mississauga were built between 1955 and 1985, and that timeline matters more than most homeowners realize. Pipes installed in that era were almost always clay or cast iron, and the service life on those materials is now well past its expiration date in neighbourhoods like Port Credit, Lakeview, Mineola, and Cooksville. Roots find clay. Rust eats cast iron from the inside out. Both fail slowly, then suddenly, usually during a heavy rain or after a long holiday weekend. We're DrainPro, a family-run drain, plumbing, and waterproofing company based right here in Mississauga, and we built our entire approach around what these older homes actually need: a real diagnostic before any digging or quoting. Every job starts with a Hathorn H7 municipal-grade camera, and you watch the screen with us while we walk through what's there. Every quote is flat-rate, given to you in writing before the work starts, not invented after. We've been doing this for 15 years across Mississauga and the wider GTA, and we've never subcontracted a job.

Homes In Mississauga

What Pre-1985 Mississauga Homes and the Sanitary Sewer Subsidy Mean for Your Drain Problems

The neighbourhoods that fill our daily route share a story. Built between roughly 1955 and 1985, originally serviced with vitrified clay sewer laterals and cast iron stack systems, and now sitting on infrastructure that's roughly two decades past its useful life. Port Credit and Lakeview sit closest to Lake Ontario, where elevated water tables make basement weeping tile failures particularly common when the original 1960s tile collapses or clogs with sediment. Mineola's mature tree canopy is part of why people pay to live there, and it's also why we pull root masses out of laterals on those streets every week. Cooksville, sitting near the historic floodplain of Cooksville Creek, has its own pattern of sanitary backups during heavy storms because the older sewer lines in that area weren't engineered for the runoff volumes we now see in Cooksville Creek floodplain extent and current municipal infrastructure context

Mississauga sits within Peel Region, which matters when permits and rebates come into play. The City of Mississauga runs a The City of Mississauga runs the Basement Flooding Prevention Rebate, which provides up to $7,500 toward sump pumps and backwater valves, plus a separate Flood Resilience Rebate covering 50% of water-resistant material costs up to $3,000 for homes that have previously flooded. that helps offset the cost of disconnecting weeping tile from the sanitary sewer and installing a sump pump and backwater valve. Permits are pulled through the City of Mississauga, while Peel Region owns the trunk sewer infrastructure, which sometimes affects how a private-side repair connects to the main on streets with older municipal hookups.

We've worked these streets long enough to know the small variations. Homes near Lakefront Promenade have different lateral configurations than the older parts of Streetsville. The subdivisions built after 1970 in Erin Mills and Meadowvale use a different mix of materials again, and the failure patterns are different. The 1980s and 1990s homes in Churchill Meadows and Lisgar generally have ABS rather than clay, so the issues there tend to be belly grades, joint separation, and the occasional backwater valve that was never installed in the first place. That local pattern recognition is what turns a fishing-expedition repair into a targeted, flat-rate job, and it's what the Hathorn H7 footage actually shows you.

Recurring backups in our 1960s Port Credit semi for over a year. Two other plumbers just snaked it and left. DrainPro brought a real camera, showed us the cracked clay section on the screen, and gave us a flat-rate quote on the spot. No upsell, no scare tactics. Job was clean and the backups stopped. Wish we'd called them first.

Basement flooded twice in two years. Alex walked us through the camera footage, explained why our line was vulnerable, and handled the entire Mississauga rebate paperwork for the backwater valve and sump pump. Out-of-pocket cost was way less than I expected. Family-run, on time, and they actually pick up the phone.
